What is your ideal recipe for relaxation after a long day of life? Relaxation can be accomplished in many way, many of which can be as simple as sitting down and inhaling one of your favorite essential oils, other times you may require a little bit extra. In our current climate, many of us take a little bit more to get us to our happy places. Using essential oils in your shower will give you all the benefits of aromatherapy while fitting into your daily schedule.
You will need:
Yields 15-20 shower melts
- 1 cup baking soda
- 1/2 cup sea salt/Epsom salt
- Glass bowl
- 2 tsp. Water
- 20-25 drops essential oils
- Silicone mold
- Spoon
- Airtight container
To Make
Pour the baking soda and salt into a glass bowl. Add the water slowly and stir well. You want the consistency to be like damp sand. Add more water slowly if needed. Add the essential oils and stir well. Pour the mixture into a silicone mold. Press the mixture against the mold with a spoon to make sure there are no air bubbles and it is packed tight. Let it dry completely for about 48 hours. Pop the shower melts out of the mold and store them in an airtight container.
To Use:
Place one shower melt on the floor of the shower away from the stream of water. If you place it directly under the water, it will fizz too fast. As the water hits the melt, it will release the essential oils into the air and steam. Inhale and reap the benefits. Store them in a glass mason jar close to your show3r so you can easily grab one before you shower. Use within one month for the strongest scent and best results.
