You Will Need
- 1 1/2 cups white vinegar
- 1/4 cup vodka
- 2 TB. Fresh thyme leaf, chopped
- 2 TB. Lavender flowers, chopped
- 1 lemon peel, chopped
- 1 orange peel, chopped
- Canning jar: 1-st.
- Wax paper
- Fine-mesh sieve/Cheesecloth
- Spray bottle
- 15 drops tea tree essential oil (optional)
- 10 drops sweet orange essential oil (optional)
Add the white vinegar, vodka, herbs, and citrus peels to a 1-quart canning jar. Top off as needed with vinegar so the citrus peels and herbs are completely covered. Place a piece of natural wax paper between the top of the jar and the lid to prevent the vinegar from corroding the cap. Secure the cap on the jar, and let infuse for two weeks in a cool, dark place, giving the jar a shake every couple of days. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth, and transfer the cleaning solution to a spray bottle. Add the essential oils, if using. Shake thoroughly before spraying. Use this cleanser for general surface cleansing needs. It could also be cured over reusable cloths in a jar to make easy-to-grab kitchen wipes. Fried thyme, peppermint, and lavender can be substituted for fresh if needed, just cut the amount in half.
